Looking for a few fun ways to spend March break at home this year? Even though it’ll be different due to the pandemic, there are still plenty of ways to keep the kids busy and entertained while being stuck at home. Here are some ideas to think about!
Treasure Hunts
Kids absolutely love embarking on a good old fashioned treasure hunt. Choose something your kids will love and place them around different areas of your home. Make a list of clues about where they’re hidden and watch as your kids run around to find them first. It’s always a hit!
Have Some Winter Fun Outside
Just because you can’t necessarily go anywhere, it doesn’t mean you have to stay cooped up indoors. After a fresh snowfall, there’s no better time to get the kids outside for some winter fun, even if it’s just in the backyard. Plan a day where you bundle up and build a snowman together, make snow forts or even throw down a fun snowball fight.
Have a Movie Marathon
When the weather is too cold to stay outside for a long period of time, plan a PJ day with a movie marathon. Line up some of your kid’s favourite flicks and help them set up a cozy fort with some pillows where they can get comfy. Then fire up the popcorn for a fun afternoon of lounging, laughing, and spending time together.
Do Some Baking
You can also get the kids involved in some baking. Plan a few fun and delicious recipes for them to help with. Cookies or cupcakes are always fun and easy enough for the kids to lend a hand and make a few of their own. You can set up a decorating station where they get to make their own artistic decorations on top of their cupcakes or cookies. Kids love to help out with baking, especially when they know they’ll get to eat a treat afterwards!
A Day of Games
Have a games day with the whole family. Get out some of your favourite board games or any that the kids enjoy playing and set up a few tournaments. Sometimes, a little friendly competition can add to the excitement, so offer up a small reward to incentivize your kids to get into it and have some fun.
Theatrical Production
If your children love to dress up and get creative, encourage them to put on a theatrical show. You can help create a stage, costumes, and prop up your camera to record it and have some amazing memories to look back on.
Family Collage and Crafts
One great way to spend quality time with the family over the March break is by creating a family collage or scrapbook. All you need are some old photos, magazines and any pictures or phrases that are meaningful to you and your family. The goal is to be creative and just have fun with it so encourage your kids to include things that they enjoy and feel represent them.
Ask Your Kids What They Want to Do
Don’t forget that kids are creative and full of amazing ideas. So when in doubt, ask your kids what they would like to do during their break. Even if they want to watch their favourite show or play a game they love, let them have time to indulge in those activities too.
